How your upcoming wedding is going to look a little different.

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that Ohio wedding venue’s have re-opened and resumed weddings (up to 300 guests).    Both vendors and engaged couples are excited and getting prepared to resume hosting weddings again.   With that, comes a list of changes that will be made to adhere to the (current) mandate set forth by our governor.

The first change you’ll see (if you look closely) is that your guests will be physically spread apart a little more than normal.  Since all tables must be 6 feet apart, the distance between tables will increase a little.    Large (long) family style tables will be limited, since the maximum number of guests at each table is a maximum of 10.

Many venue’s and caterers will be proactive when it comes to serving (food and beverages), in order to alleviate groups and congregating.   For this reason, you will see changes in bars (distancing them from each other), greet drink stations, beverage carts, and table side service.   With food, you will see more served/butlered meals and appetizers, as to alleviate utensils being handled by all of your guests.  Buffets will also be served by a gloved/masked staff member for that reason.

Because congregating isn’t allowed at this time, there will likely be less “cocktail hours” and more “going straight into dinner”.   Since cocktail hour is typically the time when wedding couples get photos taken (after the ceremony), there may be more “first looks” as to get the pictures taken before the ceremony.

I imagine a receiving line is not a good idea, but this doesn’t mean the newly married couple can’t visit each guest table from a safe distance.

Guest books might look a little different since community pens are frowned upon.  A really neat option is to capture video (virtual) well-wishes from your guests.  This allows you to capture, keep,  and share special messages from friends and loved ones forever!  Check out an example here: https://youtu.be/z8iBr8gciu8

As the newly married couple departs, the send off will be a bit more spaced out.  Keep this in mind for sparklers, bubbles, bird seeds, flower petals, etc.

Finally, don’t be surprised if you receive less RSVP’s than you originally planned on having.  Although restrictions are indeed being lifted, the number of guests willing to travel may decrease.  This is especially true if they are older or are in risky heath.

We are so excited to see just how creative our Ohio couples can be with their weddings despite the restrictions.  We are still able to celebrate this momentous occasion, it will just look a little different for now.
